8 Incredible Photos of Tara Lynn in Kangaroo Island
Tara Lynn made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2019 and, at the time, became the oldest rookie the magazine had ever had. (Model Kathy Jacobs took the title at the age of 57 in 2020.)
“I don’t know that I specifically wished that there were more girls in magazines that looked like me, but I remember seeing one once as a freshman in high school,” the now-40-year-old said. “I remember seeing a plus size model—she had like the exact same body as me—wearing a little lavender lace dress, and I suddenly felt like my size was O.K. It was so so validating to see [someone] that did look like me, but I don’t know that I realized that I wanted that. I just know that it made me feel so good and happy to see something that made me feel like I wasn’t just on the outside.”
Lynn added that she gets her body positive-attitude and confidence from her mom, who was constantly expressing love and admiration for beauty in all aspects to her.
“She talks about beauty in so many different ways and shows appreciation for like all diverse types of things and then tells women that they’re beautiful for these different reasons,” she said about her mother. “So that I think was a really great experience for me as a kid for not just developing some really narrow idea of what was beautiful.”
Today, the New Jersey resident is a mom to two boys, Finlay and Rupert.
