In her three photoshoots with SI Swimsuit, model Chanel Iman has proven she’s no stranger to adventure. From fearlessly posing on the edge of the Utah cliffs in 2015 to charming a giant python in Zanzibar the following year, the 32-year-old has an adventurous streak that makes for some fantastic photos.

Iman had her start with the issue in 2014, heading to Madagascar for her rookie photoshoot. The following year brought her back to the States and the red rocks and canyons of Utah.

The sophomore feature was a very welcome opportunity for the Georgia native. “I was really excited to get the phone call again from Sports Illustrated because I had such a great shoot the first time. We shot in Madagascar and it was my all-time favorite shoot,” she explained while on set. “Now we’re shooting in America, and it’s gorgeous.”

Some of the snapshots had Iman in some precarious situations, but—fittingly—she accepted the challenge with enthusiasm. “Luckily I’m not too scared of heights because I was shooting on a horse on the top of a cliff,” she said of the fabulous images taken by photographer James Macari. “I had a great horse to work with—his name was Pistol and he was so sweet. He didn’t move so it was very easy for us to get that shot.”

At the end of the day, Iman only hoped that the images would “look timeless” and serve as inspiration for others. Of that, she can be sure—the adventurous photos were nothing if not inspiring. Below are some of our favorites from the 2015 feature.
