While Brooks Nader thought she was merely at a photo shoot with Electric Picks on Sunday afternoon, the 2019 Swim Search winner was in for the surprise of a lifetime. The SI Swimsuit team was waiting in the wings, ready to burst in to surprise Nader with the thrilling news that she landed one of four ’23 SI Swimsuit Issue covers.

The Louisiana native has posed for the brand each year since winning the open casting call in 2019. She traveled to the Dominican Republic for this year’s cover photo shoot, which was captured by James Macari.

“Brooks is doing a shoot for Electric Picks,” editor in chief MJ Day said in a behind-the-scenes clip shared on Nader’s Instagram story on Tuesday. “But little does she know that Electric Picks has invited us to come to let her know that she’s the cover of the 2023 issue.”

Nader couldn’t have looked more surprised and elated as the team burst in and cheered for the model after making the major announcement.

“No, this is not actually happening, I don’t believe it,” Nader gushed through tears. “I was honored enough to be in the magazine so I never thought that I would actually be on the cover. I don’t really even know what to say.”

Below, check out a series of images that captured the sweet moment between Nader and the SI Swimsuit team.
