Danielle Herrington began her modeling career with a major first gig: her SI Swimsuit debut in Fiji in 2017. She landed on the magazine’s cover just one year later and returned for a total of five separate SI Swimsuit Issues.

Just four days after wrapping up her most recent photo shoot in Florida in 2021, the California native found out she was expecting a baby with her partner, Geron McKinley. The two welcomed their son in August of that year.

“Becoming a part of the [Sports Illustrated] family has been such a positive thing in my life, personally,” she said at the time, between tears. “[Sports Illustrated] helped me feel a little bit more comfortable with myself, because that was all they were promoting, diversity. Whatever you are, embrace it, own it. That’s what my cover said: ‘Own it.’”

Below are five gorgeous neon looks from Herrington’s 2018 cover photo shoot in Harbour Island, Bahamas, with photographer Ben Watts.
