Lorena Durán made a splashy SI Swimsuit debut in 2020 when she posed for the publication in Scrub Island, British Virgin Islands, where she was photographed by Josie Clough. After her rookie year, the Spanish model returned to the fold in ’22, when she traveled to Montenegro with visual artist James Macari. Her third feature with the magazine was captured by Ben Watts in Puerto Rico for the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue.

“For me, strength is not listening to or being defined by others,” Durán explained while on location during her first-ever SI Swim photoshoot. “It’s always knowing I can do what I set out to accomplish.”

Durán, who is best known as the first curve model to appear in a Victoria’s Secret campaign, has put that notion into practice throughout her career, working with other notable brands like Intimissimi, L’Oreal Paris and Abercrombie.

The styling on location for this year’s SI Swimsuit photoshoot in Puerto Rico was inspired by 1970s surf culture, and while the model stunned in a number of swimsuits, we absolutely adore the trendy and colorful crochet bikini she wore by It’s Now Cool.
