10 Phenomenal Photos of Body Diversity Advocate Hunter McGrady in Costa Rica

The model and mom has been featured in five SI Swimsuit Issues.

Hunter McGrady was photographed by James Macari in Costa Rica.

Hunter McGrady made a splashy debut in the 2017 SI Swimsuit Issue after being discovered through the brand’s Model Search. That year, she participated in a body paint feature in Anguilla with makeup artist Joanne Gair and photographer Josie Clough.

Since then, the body diversity advocate and mom of two has returned to the magazine for a total of five SI Swimsuit features. She posed in a Brooklyn studio for a powerful “In Her Own Words” photo shoot with Taylor Ballantyne her sophomore year and traveled to Costa Rica with James Macari in 2019. 

McGrady posed for photographer Yu Tsai in Bali in ’20 and returned to the publication for her most recent feature last year, after working with Tsai in Belize.

A proud mom of two, McGrady and her husband, Brian Keys, welcomed their son Hudson in June 2021. Just six months later, she returned to the SI Swimsuit Issue as a new mom. The parents welcomed a daughter, Ava, in March of this year.

“All-encompassing representation in media is important for many reasons, the main reason being that the more we shed a positive light on any and all stereotypes, we increase the chance that they may be eradicated,” McGrady eloquently told SI Swimsuit when asked about diversity. “As a society we see ourselves through a social lens and because of that, it is imperative to see images each of us can relate to.”
