Hunter McGrady, McKenna Berkley, Anne de Paula and Lisa-Marie Jaftha each traveled to Anguilla in 2017 for a unique and colorful SI Swimsuit photo shoot. Each woman sported painted-on swimwear, courtesy of artist Joanne Gair, for an empowering body paint feature. The women were photographed by Josie Clough.

While each of the models made her SI Swimsuit debut that year as part of the brand’s Swim Search open casting call, several would become repeats with the franchise.

McGrady returned for features in ’18, ’19, ’20 and ’22, while de Paula became a rookie the following year. She made additional appearances in the magazine in ’19 and ’20.

“It’s been absolutely amazing,” McGrady gushed at the time of her body paint feature. “The suit is so incredible. I never want to take it off my body. Sports Illustrated is the end goal, I feel like that’s what everyone is striving to get.”

McGrady stated that representing curvy women in the open casting call was a dream come true.

“I’m doing this not only for me but for every woman out there who has ever felt uncomfortable in their body and who wants and needs to know that you are sexy,” she added.
