Haley Kalil made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2018 as part of the brand’s open casting call. Named co-winner of that year’s Swim Search (alongside Camille Kostek), she returned to the magazine the following year to pose for photographer Yu Tsai in Kenya.

In ’20, Kalil traveled to the British Virgin Islands with photographer Josie Clough. For her most recent SI Swimsuit Issue photo shoot in 2021, the model was captured in Hollywood, Fla., by shutterbug James Macari.

Kalil attended St. Cloud State University, where she received her bachelor of science degree in biomedical sciences and psychology. Today, she is founder of The Nerd Herd, a company that empowers women to pursue careers in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics through education and empowerment.

Kalil told SI Swimsuit she was “fascinated by the sciences” from a young age.

A self-proclaimed “nerd,” she also shared that her academic achievements—she graduated summa cum laude from the honors college with a 4.0—are among her proudest accomplishments.

“I entered the SI Swim Search because it was a dream of mine to model for this iconic brand,” she stated. “And now, I have been given the privilege of contributing to the legacy... because SI Swimsuit is so much more than beauties in bikinis, it’s a bold depiction of strong, unapologetic women embracing their truths.”

Below are 10 of our favorite images captured at Kalil’s rookie SI Swimsuit photo shoot in Kenya with Tsai.
