These Are the Incredible Athletes Featured in the 2023 Swimsuit Issue

The LSU Tigers should be full of pride this week. NCAA gymnast Olivia Dunne and basketball player Angel Reese traded their signature purple uniforms for bikinis, and each made a powerful debut in the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue. Both athletes look absolutely stunning in their respective features.

The 20-year-old, who began gymnastics at age 3 and is now the highest-paid female college athlete in the country, was photographed by Ben Watts in Puerto Rico earlier this year.

She hopes her SI Swimsuit feature sends a message to internet trolls who criticize her for taking advantage of name, image and likeness rules to build her brand to the tune of a seven-figure salary.

Dunne also wants to serve as inspiration to younger women that you can chase all your dreams and do anything you put your mind to.

“When people look at my Sports Illustrated photos, I want them to take away that you can have the best of both worlds—and you can be a strong independent woman while doing it all,” she said. “You can be an athlete, you can be in school and you can do modeling.”

Angel Reese

The Baltimore native, who just celebrated her 21st birthday, has been on a roll this year. After leading the LSU women’s basketball program to its first NCAA national championship and being named Most Outstanding Player of the Final Four, she posed for the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue.

Reese was photographed by Yu Tsai in Los Angeles earlier this year, and the photos are truly astonishing.

Reese revealed to the magazine that she actually feels most confident in a swimsuit.

“I had on thong bathing suits, and I didn’t think I was going to be comfortable, but [everyone] made me feel really comfortable,” she said. “I work out a lot. I embrace my body and who I am and every mark on my body. I probably feel the sexiest in a bathing suit.”
