Jasmine Sanders Talks SI Swimsuit Photoshoots and Learning to Love Her Body

Since her 2019 debut, the model has been featured in the magazine five times.

According to five-time SI Swimsuit model Jasmine Sanders, learning to love her body has been a process. It wasn’t until the last few years that the 32-year-old really began to embrace herself.

“I learned to start loving and embracing my body when I tried not to be such a perfectionist anymore,” she told SI Swimsuit. “It’s really up to me what I want my body to look like and what makes me feel good.”

In 2019, the model made her debut with photographer James Macari in Costa Rica, and was then named Rookie of the Year. She has been featured in the magazine each year since. Sanders’s 2020 trip to Bali with photographer Yu Tsai landed her on the cover of that year’s issue.

According to the model, “Sports Illustrated has definitely played a huge part” in helping her to embrace her body.

“The more you become you and [become] comfortable with you, the more it’s going to radiate and show on that beach,” she remarked. “I feel so confident because I was able to have a safe space where I could be comfortable.”

The model’s confidence certainly shines through in each of her photoshoots. From Costa Rica and Bali to Tampa, Belize and Puerto Rico, Sanders’s radiance and self-love is evident in every photo.

On location, all of the people “cheering you on and hyping you up” have allowed Sanders to really let loose. “They’ve created such a safe space for me to love myself,” she said.
