Madisin Rian Dazzles in the Dominican Republic for the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue

The model channeled a Barbie aesthetic for her rookie appearance.

Madisin Rian traveled to the Dominican Republic for her rookie photo shoot with SI Swimsuit, working with photographer James Macari. “I’ve dreamed of doing SI [Swimsuit] for so many years now,” Rian shared on set. “For me to be in the moment right now that it’s happening, I’m a firm believer that everything happens in the right timing.”

The St. Louis native dazzled in a number of looks while on location, as the styling of her debut photo shoot was meant to incorporate a Barbiecore motif. Rian paid homage to the various silhouettes worn by Barbie and the strong yet feminine spirit by wearing a black swimsuit by Gottex provided by Brent Edward Vintage and big gold earrings by Christian Lacroix provided by New York Vintage to tie it all together.

Rian has been featured in numerous campaigns with brands such as Polo Ralph Lauren, Donna Karan, Stuart Weitzman and J.Crew. In 2018 she became the first Black woman to be the face of Giorgio Armani Beauty. Breaking down barriers is nothing new to Rian. She made the decision to shave her head six years ago, an experience she has described as “liberating.” Now her efforts lie in creating a foundation in Africa to help provide clean water to impoverished areas.
