Martha Stewart Welcomes Rookie Brittany Mahomes to the SI Swim Family at Super Bowl LVIII
Last year, Martha Stewart made history as the oldest woman to ever grace the cover of the annual Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. She was 81 at the time and looked absolutely fabulous in her white one-piece and orange cover-up on the front of the storied publication after her photo shoot in the Dominican Republic with photographer Ruven Afanador.
Like everything else that the businesswoman and television personality does, she approached the role with poise and grace. Now, she will forever be a part of the brand’s history, and she doesn’t take that role lightly.
On Sunday, at Super Bowl LVIII in Las Vegas, the SI Swimsuit model made a point of welcoming the newest 2024 rookie to the family. Stewart shared a handful of photos embracing and posing with Brittany Mahomes, who was announced as a rookie on Thursday, Feb. 8, on Instagram.
The exciting announcement came just before the Super Bowl, in which Mahomes’s husband, Patrick Mahomes, competed for (and ultimately won) the Lombardi Trophy alongside the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs. The mom of two posed in a series of aptly chosen Chiefs red swimsuits for her feature in the forthcoming 60th anniversary issue, which was photographed by Derek Kettela in Belize.
“one sports illustrated swimsuit to another!” Stewart captioned her photos of the pair posing together ahead of the game.
While Stewart didn’t make any sort of declaration of support for either team with her green wool coat, Mahomes wore a bright red corset top and matching pants to show support for her husband and the Chiefs.
