Megan Thee Stallion Was a Sight to Behold on the Set of Her SI Swim Feature
It should come as no surprised that Megan Thee Stallion brought good energy to the set of her 2021 SI Swimsuit photo shoot. That year, the rapper headed to the beaches of Hollywood, Fla., to pose for a cover photographed by James Macari. In doing so, she became the second musician and the first rapper to grace the cover of the annual magazine, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
Of course, she brought her characteristically peppy personality. The resulting feature—which included bright neon bikinis and one-pieces—complemented the 28-year-old’s vibrant persona and career. That was exactly MJ Day’s goal when she invited the rapper to take part in the annual issue.
“They’re their own brands,” she told Billboard of both Megan Thee Stallion and Beyoncé, the first musician to pose on the cover of SI Swimsuit. “We wanted [Megan] to be the one that felt her most beautiful and her most confident and her most hot girl. I love that she wanted to show a range of who she was and how she can be celebrated.”
It was a dream come true for the rapper, too. “I’ve wanted to do it all my life,” she said on set. “I was the little girl looking at the cover of Sports Illustrated saying, ‘One day this is going to be me.’ And I manifested it.”
And we’re so glad she did with the cover of the 2021 issue. Here are a few of our favorite photos of the star from her SI Swimsuit feature.
