Four-Time SI Swim Model Haley Kalil Channeled Her Inner Acrobat on Scrub Island

The social media influencer is a 2018 Swim Search co-winner.

Swim Search alumna Haley Kalil was declared co-winner of the open casting call in 2018. The influencer and model returned to the fold for a total of four consecutive issues and never ceased to amaze us. The Minnesota native, who was photographed by Yu Tsai in Belize for her debut, traveled to Kenya, Scrub Island and Hollywood, Fla., with the brand, and had an absolute blast with the team in each new location.

The 31-year-old, who describes herself as a nerd, was a recent college graduate and on track for nursing school when she saw and applied to be in the magazine.

“All they did was make me feel incredible and amazing and I just couldn’t believe that these powerful women were taking the time out of their day to make me feel like even though I wasn’t a model, they wanted to know about me and hear from me,” she gushed about her initial interaction with the brand. “I’m so grateful to Sports Illustrated Swimsuit for bringing me into the modeling industry, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for them.”

Kalil has grown her social media as a fun and safe space where she often shares comedic videos and skits. She also dedicates a portion of her time and platform to educating young models and encouraging them to speak up for themselves—and be extremely cautious and smart—while starting out in the industry.
