What inspired you to try out for SI Swim Search?

Ever since I was a kid, I loved the beach. Brooke Burke’s photo in Walmart and her Wild On! days inspired me so much to say, “ I want to travel the world in a bikini!”

What would it mean to you to win Swim Search?

Being my third year trying out, It would mean the absolute world to win SI Swim Search. Words couldn’t even express how I’d feel.

What has been the best part about being a part of the Swim Search community?

It’s been so fortunate to bring people together during a pandemic. I’ve listened to the most incredible stories and formed the closest bonds with so many. I feel like I have a new family.

What is your favorite SI Swimsuit memory?

My favorite SI Swimsuit memory was standing in line at 5am in the pouring rain, waiting to meet the team. I’ll always be grateful to Paige McGowan’s mom for keeping us warm, dry and fed. I also remember when Brooks Nader won SI Swim Search, I cried for her. Anyone coming out of little ol’ Baton Rouge and making an impact has a huge place in my heart.

What would you tell your younger self?

If I could go back and tell my younger self something, I would say, “Chels, NEVER EVER let the word NO get you down and ALWAYS say how you feel out loud.”

How are you preparing for the SI Swim Search photo shoot?

I’m currently as pale as my kitchen walls. I will definitely be making sure I’m tanned for this. Otherwise, I love how my curves are and happy with my current workouts.

Who was the first person you told the good news to?

After the Zoom call, I was on cloud nine and had to call Ryan, my boyfriend. He and I were both crying (happy tears obviously). We couldn’t celebrate really until everyone was gone from the weekend brunch, but we definitely popped a good bottle of wine to celebrate!
