Curve model Amanda Kay is a total globe-trotter. The Toronto native has traveled the world and has lived in Jordan, Egypt, England, Abu Dhabi and Dubai. She returned to Canada for college at the age of 18 and has been there ever since. The model, who is of Thai and German descent, graduated from Toronto’s Ryerson University with a bachelor’s degree in marketing management and minor in human resource management. 

She made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2021 as a Swim Search open casting call finalist and was photographed by Yu Tsai in Atlantic City. The model initially pursued a career in marketing, but decided to take a leap of faith and switch industries a few years ago. She has since modeled for major brands including Alo Yoga, Louisa Ballou, Bala, J.Crew and more.

“My favorite SI memory is when I saw Ashley Graham on the 2016 cover. It was so exciting to see a woman that looked like me on such an internationally known magazine cover,” she recalled. “It not only made me feel beautiful but also gave me a boost of confidence to know that ‘Yes! All sizes are indeed beautiful!’ I am still in shock that I made it to the finals, so I am going to keep it in perspective that my involvement is so much bigger than just me. This is how I can make a difference for someone out there who battles with body confidence and acceptance.”
