As a 2022 Swim Search finalist, GiGi Robinson made her debut alongside photographer Yu Tsai in the Dominican Republic.

But before hitting the beaches with the 12 other finalists for her SI Swim debut, Robinson had already built a name for herself. Over the years, the 25-year-old has cultivated a platform for herself and her chronic illness advocacy, becoming an outspoken supporter of those suffering from various chronic illnesses.

The 2022 Swim Search finalist was diagnosed with several chronic illnesses as a young child, including Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS), to which was added an endometriosis diagnosis in 2022. Her own personal struggles have only fueled her advocacy further, pushing her to create her own podcast, “Everything You Need Is Within,” and a newsletter, “The Creator Chronicles,” to share her own story and empower others to be advocates themselves.

Because her endometriosis took so long to diagnose, the one-time SI Swim model has a new motivation in her chronic illness advocacy. “That’s my entire mission—raising awareness for invisible forms of health issues and disability allyship,” she explained to the SI Swim team. “It’s frustrating that that’s the case and that’s why I wont stop.”

Robinson approaches her own personal diagnoses with the confidence that thought it “is a part of me ... it doesn’t define me,” she said. “Gigi Robinson is not just a public speaker, nor just a patient. I’m so much more than that and I think that that’s really important for everyone to remember.”
