5 Stunning Photos of WNBA Star Nneka Ogwumike in St. Thomas

The athlete brought her best style to the set of her 2022 SI Swimsuit photoshoot.

We all know that WNBA star Nneka Ogwumike can dress. She’s proven as much again and again with her elevated streetwear and pre-game outfits. Unsurprisingly, the same could be said of her 2022 SI Swimsuit Issue feature.

The basketball pro traveled to the beaches of St. Thomas with photographer Laretta Houston and a handful of her fellow WNBA players for last year’s photoshoot. There, she posed in a series of sleek black swimwear, which really popped against the vibrant blues and greens of the tropical destination. While it was certainly a departure from her typical dress—a basketball uniform or high-style athleisure—Ogwumike made the most of it, all the same.

In one of a series of Instagram posts that the athlete shared at the time of her feature, she declared the whole experience “a dream,” offering a heartfelt thank you to editor in chief MJ Day and the SI Swimsuit brand. 

Ogwumike continues to do modeling work, and she recently starred in a campaign with luxury brand KA Originals. Ogwumike, who plays for the Los Angeles Sparks alongside her sister, Chiney, usually shows up for games with her sibling by her side, both rocking the best fashion.

She has proven her ability to make a statement on and off the court, and particularly on the set of an SI Swimsuit photoshoot. And we have no doubt she will continue to do so. Here are some of Ogwumike’s best snaps from her trip to the Caribbean destination.
