Ashley Callingbull Modeled a Daring Pink Latex Swimsuit in the Dominican Republic

The 2022 Swim Search finalist made a major impression in the Caribbean.

When Ashley Callingbull became a finalist in the 2022 Swim Search, she in turn became the first Indigenous First Nations woman to grace the pages of the annual SI Swimsuit Issue. The Canadian model traveled to the Dominican Republic alongside 12 other open casting call finalists for a stunning beachside photo shoot with visual artist Yu Tsai.

While in the Caribbean country, Callingbull modeled several pastel-colored swimsuits, the most daring of which was a light pink latex one-piece by HAUS OF PINKLEMONAID. The suit featured high-cut hips and a super cheeky backside. The 34-year-old also donned colorful bikinis by Toxic Sadie Swimwear, INDAH and Monica Hansen Beachwear while on location.

“I am the first Indigenous First Nations woman to appear in the magazine, and I know I won’t be the last,” Callingbull stated of her SI Swimsuit feature. “I’m opening the door for our next generation of women, which is really important. When you see SI Swimsuit, you see these amazing women who have all these wonderful careers and do so much good for other women. I remember seeing Tyra Banks on the cover as a little girl, and I thought if she could make history, maybe I could do it, too. Now that I’m in this position, I’m also giving inspiration to other women.”
