The professional athlete was jazzed by the great vibes on set and took the time to inspire during her SI Swimsuit photoshoot.

In 2022, the beaches of St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands were temporarily taken over by a handful of strong and beautiful WNBA players. Power forward Breanna Stewart hit the white sand beaches in the Caribbean alongside four other professional basketball players for her photoshoot with SI Swimsuit.

Though not her typical day-to-day work, the former UConn Husky was excited for the opportunity to take part in the 2022 issue. Before stepping in front of the lens for the first pose with photographer Laretta Houston, she expressed her anticipation. “[I] can’t wait. So many swimsuits. Hopefully it looks great,” she expressed heading into her day on set.

She was certainly happy with the way the day progressed and pleased with the great “vibe on set” and with the SI Swimsuit team throughout the day. “MJ [Day] has been amazing—I think she’s just extremely supportive. [She] makes us feel comfortable,” the athlete said of the magazine’s editor in chief.

Before her photoshoot wrapped, Stewart made sure to share some inspirational words with the younger generation. “Continue to work hard, continue to follow your dreams,” she urged. “Women are doing something extremely special right now for your generation so that you can continue to build on it and be the best you can be.”
