Josephine Skriver’s Rookie SI Swimsuit Photoshoot Was One to Remember

Josephine Skriver made three consecutive SI Swimsuit appearances, starting with her rookie feature in 2020, when she traveled to the Dominican Republic. After being named Rookie of the Year, the Danish model returned for a gorgeous feature with Anne Menke in Sacramento, Calif., and was photographed in Montenegro last year.
The former Victoria’s Secret Angel first entered the industry as a teenager after being scouted in her hometown in Copenhagen, Denmark. The 30-year-old, who is expecting her first baby with her husband, musician Alexander DeLeon, has been featured in major modeling campaigns for Armani, Balmain, Gucci and Tom Ford. She’s also appeared in numerous magazines, including Vogue and Harper’s Bazaar.
In addition to being a total fashion and style icon, Skriver is also the cofounder of activewear company JOJA and an outspoken advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. She was raised by a lesbian mother and a gay father, and has always been open about her upbringing.
“Loving yourself is always going to be a journey. It’s a never-ending journey,” she told SI Swimsuit. “For me, it’s a conscious decision in the morning; it’s a conscious decision to be happy. When social media blew up, the world had its perfect image of me because the days you post are the good days—you post when you feel the best. It slowly creates this idea that you look like this 24/7. I did not wake up like this.”
Below are seven of our favorite photos from her rookie SI Swimsuit photoshoot with Kate Powers in the Dominican Republic.
