Supermodel and Entrepreneur Josephine Skriver Was a Beachside Vision in Montenegro

The three-time SI Swimsuit model was named Rookie of the Year in 2020.

SI Swimsuit star Josephine Skriver made her debut with the brand in 2020, when she posed for Kate Powers in the Dominican Republic and was named Rookie of the Year. The Danish model returned to the fold in ’21, when she was photographed by Anne Menke in Sacramento, Calif. Last year, the mom of one, who welcomed a daughter with her husband, musician Alexander DeLeon, in August, traveled to Montenegro for her third brand feature.

The former Victoria’s Secret Angel was scouted as a teenager and has since been featured in major campaigns or walked the runway for Calvin Klein, Gucci, Dolce & Gabbana and Givenchy. She’s also graced the pages of well-known magazines including Marie Claire, Vanity Fair and Allure.

Today, the 30-year-old is the cofounder of activewear brand JOJA. Skriver uses her platform to advocate for and be an ally for the LGBTQ+ community, in addition to sharing her fabulous and glamorous fashion and beauty content.

“I grew up as a rainbow kid with two parents who both identify as gay. Obviously, I’ve had my fair share of people who are confused by this and don’t understand. But I was really lucky to grow up in Copenhagen, which is a fairly open-minded place. It’s a city that was okay with gay. Then I came [to America] and I realized that it’s not that simple. There are so many different cultures. The more I traveled, the more I realized that some people didn’t accept this. I didn’t hear many [similar] kids’ voices, and I didn’t know how to not talk about it. I was the one in my family who dragged us to parades. I was the one who made a speech in my school,” she told Fashion Week Daily of her upbringing. “My favorite thing is meeting people who want to listen to my story; I really feel like I’ve made an impact.”
