Kyra Santoro Embraces Winter Whites in Her Marvelous Backless Mini Dress

Ditch the moody tones and opt for bright, stark style this season, just like the model.

Winter fashion is inextricably tied to moody tones. Even if we wanted to shake up the norm, we don’t know how we would even begin to move seasonal fashion away from deep reds, brown and, of course, black.

Hot pinks or pale yellows may not really be in the rotation throughout this stretch of the year, but there is one light color that has broken through the edgy tint of winter garb—and we’re pretty thrilled about it. Fashion trends of the past dictated no white after Labor Day, which, of course, meant that the end of the summer brought an end to white clothing, too. But in recent years, we’ve (thankfully) seen all of our favorite fashionable personalities beginning to buck this notion.

The latest proponent of a style we’re simply calling “winter whites” is model and actress Kyra Santoro. The 2016 Model Search contestant posed for a recent photoshoot in a dress that could not be more poised to buck the seasonal moody tone trend. In the photos, she sat on a sculptural black chair in a backless white knit mini dress and no shoes.

Now you may say the style would be better fit for warmer days, and we won’t disagree that it would make for a great summer dress. But we like the look of it in winter, too. There’s just something about a bright, stark style on a cold, gloomy day. Like Santoro, we certainly will be embracing the trend this season. You should consider it, too.
