Deeper, better breathing means more oxygen in your blood, and it can also help you de-stress and lower your heart rate. Stretching allows the body to cool down and also helps the heartbeat to return to normalcy after your workout. The release of lactic acid during an intense workout is broken with stretching. This allows muscle recovery and repair. The blood circulation to the muscles is once again resumed with stretching, This is why deep breathing and stretching are vital and just as important as your overall workout.
