12 Gorgeous Photos of Cay Skin Founder Winnie Harlow in the Bahamas
Supermodel Winnie Harlow, born Chantelle Whitney Brown-Young, has been making major moves since she entered the industry in 2014 as a contestant on America’s Next Top Model. Since then, she has appeared on tons of magazine covers, including Vogue Arabia and Elle Canada. Harlow made her Victoria’s Secret runway debut in ’18 and was featured in SI Swimsuit the following year.
Besides being the face of several campaigns for brands like Tiffany & Co., Puma, and Tommy Hilfiger, Harlow is an advocate for diversity in the modeling industry and has been candid about her experience with vitiligo. The Cay Skin founder was diagnosed with the skin pigmentation disease, which causes colorless patches around the body, at the age of 4.
“I never thought I could become a model growing up,” Harlow, 28, said in an interview with CNN, adding that a photographer encouraged her to go for it and she began to focus on social media after that. She now has 10.2 million followers on Instagram.
“I think the industry is opening up but still needs to accept various forms of beauty as a standard, as opposed to an occurrence now and then,” she continued. “I want to see different faces on the covers of magazines, the stars of movies, featured on billboards... It’s time we open the market up and embrace people from all walks of life.”
