Anne de Paula first posed for the SI Swimsuit Issue in 2017, when she was a finalist in the brand’s Model Search. The Brazilian beauty went on to win that year’s open casting call, after a gorgeous bodypaint photoshoot in Anguilla with Josie Clough and makeup artist Joanne Gair.

She returned to the fold as a rookie the following year and was photographed in Nevis, again by Clough. The model, who has been in the industry since the age of 13, posed for four consecutive SI Swimsuit Issues in a row, also traveling to Kenya and the Dominican Republic with the brand.

“It’s something I really wanted when I started modeling,” she said of her work with the magazine. “It’s amazing to finally say I’m able to be an SI model. When I started modeling, I would show people SI photos that I wanted to recreate on the beach in Rio. I wasn’t expecting it all.”

Today, de Paula continues to work in the industry and is a fitness enthusiast. She tied the knot with Philadelphia 76ers basketball player Joel Embiid over the summer. The two share a young son named Arthur.

While each of de Paula’s stunning SI Swimsuit features had her clad in various one-pieces and bikinis, her first photoshoot with the brand was one for the books, as she wore a colorful painted-on swimsuit.

Below are five reasons (in picture form) that de Paula was declared the 2017 Model Search winner.
