SI Swimsuit Stars Shine Bright for the 60th Anniversary Photo Shoot in Florida

The first day of the 60th anniversary photo shoot for the 2024 SI Swimsuit Issue began bright and early on Tuesday, March 5, as models headed to hair and makeup at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Fla., before stepping in front of photographer Yu Tsai’s lens.

Brand stars like Christie Brinkley, Kate Upton, Hunter McGrady, Leyna Bloom and Halima Aden sat for hair and makeup beginning at 5 a.m., where models were also treated to manicures and facial treatments. They then headed to wardrobe to don the gorgeous couture looks they selected on Monday. 

“It’s so amazing,” Upton says of reuniting with fellow brand legends for the diamond anniversary. “Sports Illustrated Swimsuit always puts together such an amazing team, MJ [Day, editor in chief] finds such awesome people and producers and Yu Tsai and his whole team, and so it’s really fun and it’s really no stress when you have a team of that caliber. To be around all of these legendary women is such an honor. I also was a part of the 50th [anniversary], which had every past cover model and now to be a part of the 60th, it’s such a full-circle moment for me.”

After glam, the women—including Sue Bird, Megan Rapinoe, Lily Aldridge and Tyra Banks—then posed for their photo shoots and participated in interviews and interactive social media experiences throughout the day—and while fans won’t see the final reveal until the SI Swimsuit Issue’s release in May, below we’re offering up a teaser of a few major moments from the day.
