With six appearances in SI Swimsuit including the 1982 cover, Carol Alt remains one of the magazine's most popular all-time models. She smoothly transitioned from modeling to acting and has appeared in dozens of movies and television shows. And the Queens, NY native has found her next big mission in life: spread the word about healthy eating, which is the theme of her new show A Healthy You & Carol Alt, airing Saturdays at 4 p.m. ET on Fox News Channel. Carol stopped by the SINow studio to discuss her new-found passion. Here are some excerpts from the interview.

On the importance of eating well - "I had health issues. I starved myself every year to do Sports Illustrated, to stay in model shape. I used to call it my fighting weight. And I damaged my health. When I learned how to eat raw it became so obvious to me what we are doing wrong and why people have health issues and why they have weight issues. It goes down the line to energy issues and attitude issues and a lot of other things. So once I made these changes and I had this amazing, amazing change in my life and I could eat all I wanted  as long as it was prepared the proper way, I was ecstatic. I had to spread the news. I became the pied piper of raw. I didn't mean to become the raw chick. I didn't mean to start writing books. It just happened so I realized there's a bigger universe out there pushing me toward trying to help other people."

On society's view of healthy eating - "The health of this society is so bad now that if i don't put myself out there and i don't try to do something to raise the flag and let people know that food is changing. We gave to change because our food is changing. People are going to be constantly sick, constantly unhappy and society is going to start going downwards."
