Chrissy Teigen Pledges $200K To Bail Out Protesters

Donation is made in response to President Donald Trump’s “MAGA night” comment

Chrissy Teigen has pledged to donate $200,000 to help bail out protesters who have gathered across the country over the killing of George Floyd, a black man who died after a white police officer pinned him to the crowd with a knee on his neck in Minneapolis on May 25.

The 2014 SI Swimsuit cover model initially pledged $100,000 via her Twitter account Saturday night in reaction to President Donald Trump’s declaration that “Tonight, I understand, is MAGA NIGHT AT THE WHITE HOUSE.” Teigen wrote: “In celebration of whatever the f--- magi night is, I am committed to donating 100,000 to the bail outs of protests across the country.”

Teigen’s donation quickly doubled after users criticized her support of the protesters, calling them “rioters and criminals.” Wrote Teigen, “Ooo they might need more money then. Make it $200,000.”

Chrissy Teigan: “I stand with our heroes out there in support and solidarity. If you don’t know what else to do, every little bit helps. Please see my retweets for direct links. Silence is betrayal.
