Ellie Thumann Brings Coastal Cowgirl Vibes to the Miami Swim Week Runway

The 2023 rookie rocked a cowboy hat with a crochet bikini and matching bolero.

Ellie Thumann strutted the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Runway Show at the W South Beach for Miami Swim Week on Friday, July 7, wearing crochet and cowboy hats.

A rookie in the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue, Thumann was photographed by Derek Kettela in Puerto Rico, where the styling on location was inspired by denim. The 21-year-old modeled a number of upcycled blue jean looks while on location.

SI Swimsuit’s festivities began earlier on Friday with a brunch and panel discussion featuring female founders, including Nicole Williams English, a rookie in the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue. Later, cover girl Brooks Nader did a live makeup demonstration with DIBS, a cruelty-free and vegan brand, while guests enjoyed piercing activations, courtesy of Electric Picks, and complimentary scalp massages from Divi. An annual event, Miami Swim Week showcases the latest and hottest swimwear trends from the top designers and brands worldwide. Attendees can enjoy fashion shows, open bar events, special gifts and more.

Thumann got her start in the modeling industry doing print and runway work alongside her mother when she was a young girl. The Arizona native has since worked with notable brands like Marc Jacobs, Levi’s, Kate Spade, Reebok and Coach. Known for her fashion, beauty and lifestyle YouTube channel, Thumann is rapidly building a brand as an influencer across Instagram and TikTok.
