WNBA Star Skylar Diggins-Smith Proves Blue Is Her Color in These 6 Bikini Pics
Though professional athlete Skylar Diggins-Smith is an absolute powerhouse on the basketball court, the WNBA star is also a force to be reckoned with in front of the camera. We learned that firsthand when the Indiana native posed for the 2014 SI Swimsuit Issue on Guana Island in the British Virgin Islands.
Now 33 and a mother of two, Diggins-Smith modeled several bright blue bikinis for photographer Adam Franzino, and in doing so, proved that not only is the happy hue totally her color, but her talent can be found both on and off the court.
The same year she posed for the annual issue, the Notre Dame graduate was named the WNBA’s Most Improved Player. Now a guard with the Phoenix Mercury, Diggins-Smith was the No. 3 overall pick during the ’13 WNBA draft. She and her husband, former Notre Dame football player Daniel Smith, are the proud parents of two. They welcomed their first child in 2019, while Diggins-Smith gave birth to their second child last May—and she continued playing basketball through both of her pregnancies.
While speaking with Edition by Modern Luxury last fall, Diggins-Smith shared the advice she’d give her younger self, if given the chance, and we think it’s applicable regardless of your chosen career path.
“[Be] O.K. with not everybody liking you. I promise, it’s O.K.,” she stated. “My mom always said, ‘If you act right, you are right.’ When I was coming out of college, the social media wave was just starting. So you get all this attention. People were like, ‘I want to be nice. I want to be sweet. I don’t want to be sexy, but I don’t want to be too prude. But I don’t want to be a b----.’ Girl, just be yourself.”
Below are a few of our favorite photos captured of Diggins-Smith for the 2014 SI Swimsuit Issue.
