Katie Austin was photographed by James Macari in the Dominican Republic for the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue along with fellow models, Camille Kostek, Lauren Chan, Hailey Clauson, Brooks Nader and Madisin Rian.

The certified fitness trainer, health coach, author, blogger and entrepreneur, is passionate about living a healthy lifestyle. She was the co-winner of the 2021 Swim Search and was named co-Rookie of the Year (with Christen Harper) for her ’22 appearance. The USC alum, who is the daughter of fitness icon Denise Austin, has built her platform to almost two million followers across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and her website, katieaustin.tv.

Cap Cana is a tropical oasis located in the Punta Cana area of the Dominican Republic. The exclusive private community is renowned for both its luxurious service and non-stop activity. It boasts white sand beaches, seaside cliffs and a variety of native wildlife. The Dominican Republic is also home to Sports Illustrated Resorts Marina & Villas Cap Cana, an all-inclusive luxury resort that is an ideal spot for adventurous guests who are looking for an action-packed getaway. Thus, the location was an easy choice for the 2023 SI Swimsuit Issue.

The SI Swimsuit team decided to leverage the eager anticipation around this summer’s forthcoming Greta Gerwig-directed Barbie film, so the styling for Austin’s shoot embraced full-on Barbiecore. The swimsuits were sexy and playful while exuding tons of powerful feminine energy. Think lots of hot pink, bold patterns and strong silhouettes suitable for the iconic doll herself.
