If you are visiting Turks and Caicos, the Potcake Place is a must-see. The Potcake Place is a no-kill shelter committed to finding loving and responsible homes for every stray dog that comes through their doors. Their mission is to "To reduce the number of homeless potcakes on the island," which they also do by educating the local communities. 

A "potcake" is the name given to mixed breed dogs from several Caribbean Islands, including Turks and Caicos . They're named after the food scraps from the bottom of pots that local families would would generally toss to the dogs.

The Potcake Place is 100% volunteer run. You can support them by spreading awareness, donating to them, and sending them items like puppy pads, collars, food and leashes.
