Julie Henderson made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2007, kickstarting a run of seven consecutive issue appearances. She was discovered at the age of 13 while attending the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School in Texas, and quickly booked local advertisement and commercial gigs. When she was 16, Henderson signed with New York Model Management and starred in campaigns for L’Oréal Paris, Target and United Colors of Benetton. She has been featured in Teen Vogue, Vanity Fair, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle.

“Every year they have a theme for the location that we are at. Since we’re in Spain this year, it’s very Spanish with the flowers and the all red, gold or black,” Henderson said during her 2013 photo shoot in Seville, Spain, with photographer Alex Cayley. “It’s based on the rich culture that Spain has. We went to this Moroccan style courtyard. So beautiful. We went to this square in the middle of Seville and decided to get creative with one of the suits: it’s just the Spanish flag and nothing else. On our last shot, I had to climb on top of a car and after a while I kind of gathered a pretty decent audience. I got a little shy at first. After all the cheering and clapping at the end of my shot, I felt like I had to bow for them. How cute. I love Spain. Such a cool country.”

Today, the 36-year-old and her husband, Matteo Ferrero, share 19-month-old twins, Milo and Eleanor.
