Lauren Mellor was photographed by Walter Iooss Jr. in St. Lucia in 2014, and was featured in a second photo shoot the same year for a mermaid scales inspired body painting feature.

Mellor, who was born in South Africa, began modeling almost two decades ago. The 37-year-old knew immediately after her first free test shoot that she was going to love being in front of the camera.

She studied human resource management, organizational psychology and labor law at Cape Town University and later earned a Master’s in enterprise management with the hope of someday using her knowledge to “kickstart” her own company to “give back” — which was her ultimate goal.

Mellor said she lives by a philosophy that “if your mind is in the right place and your heart is kind and caring, you can be unstoppable.”
