Olivia Brower is a seasoned model, who has been working in the industry since she was a teenager. Her experience secured her two separate features in the SI Swimsuit issue. In 2019, she made her way to Great Exuma, Bahamas with photographer Laretta Houston for her debut with the magazine.

While on set, in addition to posing for some absolutely stunning snapshots, the model offered her thoughts on self-image, success and beauty standards. “When I look at myself in the mirror, I’m O.K. with it,” she told the SI Swimsuit team while in the Bahamas. “I need to not compare myself to other people and think that I’m less because I’m not the same as another person.”

That sort of self-confidence definitely came across in front of the lens as well, making for some great photos. When it comes to definitions of success, the model assured the team that they’re not “numerical or material.” Rather, it comes down to the questions, “Are you doing what you want to be doing and is it making you happy?” Brower said. “I think if you’ve got those two things going for you, you’re pretty successful.”

The California native expressed gratitude for increasing acceptance in modern society, particularly when it comes to beauty and age-old standards. “With changing times, I think it’s beautiful that we’re very accepting of you just being yourself and embracing that,” she remarked. “I think there’s such a beauty in just loving yourself.”

Below are eight of our favorite photos of Brower embracing her natural self on set in the Bahamas.
