The three-time SI Swimsuit model made an impression during her first year with the brand.

Model Alyssa Miller has been featured in three separate SI Swimsuit Issues, but her journey began in 2011, when she took to the beaches of both Fiji and Maui, Hawai’i for her initial photoshoots with the brand.

Miller was 23 years old when she got the call for a feature on the pages of the magazine. But, by that time, she had already been modeling professionally since her teen years. While on set, she shared a bit about that journey and what making it into the pages of SI Swimsuit meant to her.

Miller, a Los Angeles native, “started modeling when I was about 15 years old,” she told the SI Swimsuit team while on the set of her 2011 photoshoot. “I was a youngin’ and I got my education through experience.”

Modeling was what brought the now 34-year-old so many new and important experiences, including her first plane flight. It gave her the chance to travel around and discover the world first-hand. Plus, the feature in SI Swimsuit only enhanced her modeling experience.

“It’s a dream come true... to be a part of the Sports Illustrated team,” she remarked. “Being an American, you understand how important it is. It’s really one of the last magazines in America that really features the models, which is really exciting. It’s all about the girl and all about their personalities.”

Miller lived up to any and all expectations her first year with the publication, earning additional features in 2012 and ’13 as well. Below are eight stunning photos from her feature in Hawai’i.
