Bregje Heinen came to the set of her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut in 2014 at just 20 years old. The fashion model, hailing from a small town in the Netherlands, had been working in the industry for a few years, and had already landed a coveted spot in the 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show among other things.

Though young, she had experience when she set foot on the set of her brand debut in Barreirinhas, Brazil. There, she posed in front of the lens of photographer Raphael Mazzucco in a series of stunning black bikinis and one-pieces, which stood out against the bright sand and waters on the coast of Brazil.

The significance of the photo shoot wasn’t lost on the model. “If you do something like this, everyone—doesn’t matter what else you do—they’ll just [say], ‘Oh, you’re a Sports Illustrated girl’,” the now 31-year-old remarked of the experience.

Just about 10 years later, the Dutch model is continuing to pursue her passion. These days, she poses for a variety of brand campaigns, many of which are for swimwear companies and build upon that very first feature with SI Swimsuit a decade ago.

Though it has been some years since she headed to Brazil for that one-time feature, we still aren’t quite over the experience. After all, the model made quite the impression during her rookie photo shoot. Here are some of the incredible photos from her time on the coast of Brazil.
