Danielle Herrington Rocks a Cowboy Hat, Boots and a Bikini for Her SI Swim Feature Out West

Danielle Herrington was photographed by Ruven Afanador in Saratoga, Wyo.

For Danielle Herrington, her 2017 SI Swimsuit debut was a long time coming. The California native started modeling when she was 13, and her first notable gigs in the industry were campaign jobs for Victoria’s Secret and a GQ feature in 2017.

Then, from 2017 to 2021, the model earned five consecutive features in the annual SI Swimsuit magazine. In ’18, she also graced the cover, becoming only the third Black woman to do so. Her fourth feature in 2020 brought her to the beautiful Saratoga, Wyo., where she posed for photographer Ruven Afanador.

Working with SI Swimsuit for her fourth year in a row held some importance for Herrington beyond just booking a major modeling gig.

“Growing up in this industry always made me feel like I needed to change my body and be someone different than the girl from Compton. Being apart of a brand that celebrates diversity and inclusivity is really a game changer,” she said of her experience in an Instagram post. “Not only for me but for the young women who are looking up to us. SI is all about breaking barriers and self acceptance and it is so refreshing. The biggest lesson I’ve learned being a part of SI is to embrace yourself for who you are, exactly how you are.”

Herrington felt proud to be part of the annual magazine because of what it—and she—strove for: “Women uplifting other women. It’s so true to who I am and how I was raised.”
