Q&A with Lolli designer and owner Vy Nguyen
SwimDaily: Tell me about your company? When did it start? Any interesting start up stories?
Vy Nguyen: Lolli Swim started in 2010. We started having small trunk shows in Laguna Beach and the line just took off from there =)
SD: What philosophies are important to the success of your company?
VN: Never give up! If you truly believe in your brand and put your heart in it, everything will fall into place.
SD: Where did the name of your company come from?
VN: I LOVE all things SWEET and girly. Lolli was the perfect name since I really like lollipops!
SD: Have you spotted any celebrities wearing you products?
VN: Yes! Cutie Kendall Jenner was spotted wearing a bow bottom.
SD: What new products are you most excited for?
VN: I’m really excited for our collab with Quay Eyewear. They have SUPER funky sunnies that are still affordable.
SD: Where would you like to see your company in 10 years?
VN: Ahhh…….. the possibilities are endless!!!
SD: How has Sports Illustrated Swimsuit impacted your brand?
VN: Since I could remember, I’ve always looked to SI Swimsuit as a Swimmie Bible! Everything about the issue from the girls, the swimmies, the exotic settings. SO dreamy!!!! It definitely given me inspiration and also the drive to work harder… “one day my swimmies going to be in there!”
SD: What has is been like working with SI Swimsuit? What does your company do to prepare for the Swimsuit year to come?
VN: I love working with the SI girls. The themes and timelines they come up with really help me prepare unique suits for consideration. I always lay out the themes and see where Lolli and fit it =)
SD: Where do you see swim trends in 10 years?
VN: In the recent years, swim has really pushed it limits. I really feel like there are no rules in swim. Anything and everything goes!
SD: What does the 50th anniversary of the Swimsuit Issue mean to you?
VN:
