Dominique Piek was featured in the SI Swimsuit Issue in 2010 when she traveled to the Maldives to pose for photographer Walter Iooss Jr.

The South African model has also worked with notable brands including Ralph Lauren, Intimissimi and Victoria’s Secret, and has graced the cover of publications like GQ South Africa, Shape and Cosmopolitan. Today, Piek is a mom and continues to work as a model.

“It’s one of the, if not the, most beautiful places I’ve ever seen in my life,” Piek said of her first-ever trip to the Maldives for her photo shoot. “I’ve always wanted to come here.”

The 37-year-old added that the location was “breathtaking” and she was “spoiled” by the beauty she was surrounded by on set.

“You couldn’t do a better [photo] shoot than this, I was just roaming around in the sands, splashing around in the water,” she stated. “It’s supposed to be fun and natural and it’s just amazing.”

Three years after her SI Swimsuit photo shoot, Piek revealed that she met with the Swim Team editors twice before she was booked for her feature—but it was well worth the wait.

“I waited for almost a month before we got word that I got the job and I have to say… it was one of the most exciting phone calls I ever received from my agent,” she gushed.
