Get to know SI Swimsuit 2020 rookie Kim Riekenberg!

If you had three wishes, what would they be?
One, to have a healthy family with my boyfriend: three kids and two rescue dogs; two, I would want the world to go back in time from time to time, with no phones – it would be more peaceful; and three, I will need a big car for my future family so I wouldn’t mind a Range or Mercedes G class. 

What is something that you have never done that you want to do?
Jump out of a plane. I am so scared but curious about it. I’d also like to do a safari and explore the wild side of Africa.

What’s your most embarrassing moment?
Have you ever had a conversation in a really loud room, pretending that you understand everything the other person is saying and then the person asks you a question? Still happens sometimes.

What’s the most regrettable beauty trend you’ve ever tried?
A side part with layers and a fringe that doesn’t want to stay down. Yep! All at once.

If you could hear one song performed live by any musician what would it be?
Any song that Khalid performs live. Melting!

What’s something people wouldn’t know about you?
I am a true veggie at heart since I was 9 years old, but I can’t help the good smell of scampies and tuna pizza.

In a world full of influencers, who influences you most?
Never forget who was there with you from the start. My mum, my big sister and my mother agent. Thanks for sticking by my side.

What motivates or inspires you?
When you start modeling you begin to dream, then you set your goals and then you do everything to turn them into reality. It isn’t always easy but if have faith and trust, it will happen. It’s the same for me personally. Trust the timing of life, be patient and send out your wishes to the universe, then let go of them. Try it :)

Do you have a self-care ritual or a creative pursuit?
Once a month I go get a facial which I call #metime. But I also like taking some time to sit down and start a big painting. It’s pretty relaxing to me.

What’s the worst holiday gift you ever received?
Broken glass filled with Dominican sand.

What’s your guilty pleasure snack?
Pizza is definitely my fave of them all. After that comes mascarpone cream with fresh strawberries.

Looking back, what advice would you give to your 14-year-old self?
To live in the moment and be a little more self-confident. I would tell myself to trust myself more.
