Rookies who rocked 2014: Sara Sampaio
TODAY WE continue with the rookies who rocked (in no particular order) with 2014's runaway Rookie of the Year,Sara Sampaio. Last week, Sara gave us 2014 in her words:
My holy s*** moment: Getting surrounded by a lot of people at Rock in Rio in Lisbon — I was not expecting that, and am not used to getting recognized so much!
My favorite red carpet look: this black vintage Azzedine Alaia for the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show after party, it was such a magical dress!
Best thing I ate: pizza! Always pizza and Skittles!
Best movie I saw: The Fault in Our Stars
Best book I read: Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell
Favorite new musical artist: Sam Smith
Something I crossed off my bucket list: I learned how to drive
Biggest lesson learned: To take one thing at a time and be patient — things will happen when they have to happen, if they have to happen! (I'm kinda still learning it.)
My New Year's resolution: Not to stress about things I have no control over...and some resolutions that I want to keep a secret!
And here's what we remember best about the 23-year-old's stellar year:
In early February, Sara, alongside Gigi Hadid, was the first Class of 2014 rookie to be revealed.
No one could argue that the Portuguese firecracker was anything but a natural fit for the stone cold pack of weirdos that comprises the SI Swimsuit family.
Later that month she brought that A-game to Launch Week...
With Anne V and Irina Shayk
With Gigi Hadid and SI.com's Andy Gray
With Gigi Hadid
...where she teamed up with Gigi Hadid to accost some lucky Miami Beach dwellers.
Throughout the rest of the year she had a steady stream of fashion editors, advertisers, photographers and designers clamoring to work with her.
From Calzedonia...
...to GQ...
...to Bebe (for whom she shared the spotlight with the brand's main squeeze Nina Agdal)...
...to Moschino...
...to Victoria's Secret PINK...
...to Victoria's even bigger secret, the V.S. Fashion Show, Sara's second.
Lucky for you, Sara accepted the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge...
But don't get it twisted. This girl is no pushover.
We knew when we met her that her future was bright — so bright we put her in shades*...
...but we love that she continues to surprise us nonetheless.
