San Diego Wave FC Defender Abby Dahlkemper Stuns in These 7 Photos from St. Lucia

The athlete made an impressive appearance in the issue leading up to the 2019 World Cup.

Prior to her 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup appearance in Paris, France, NWSL star Abby Dahlkemper made an appearance on the beaches of St. Lucia for her debut feature in the SI Swimsuit Issue. She was joined by a handful of USWNT teammates, who posed alongside Dahlkemper for photographer Ben Watts.

She brought just as much power and passion to the beaches of the Caribbean island that she would to the pitch during the World Cup tournament months later. Following her first World Cup, Dahlkemper suffered a series of injuries in 2022, preventing her from playing for much of the NWSL and USWNT season.

She returned to the pitch this August, taking to the San Diego Wave FC field with teammate and fellow SI Swimsuit model Alex Morgan. Together, the pair helped to bring home the NWSL Shield, the award given to the team with the best regular season record heading into post-season play. 

As the highest-ranked team in the league, the Wave will receive two byes in playoff contention. Dahlkemper will take on the semifinals of the 2023 NWSL playoffs on Nov. 5 alongside Morgan and their Wave teammates. We’re confident that she will bring just as much energy to her post-season play as she did to her 2019 trip to St. Lucia. Now through Nov. 1, 100% of SI Swimsuit’s portion of proceeds from cover prints purchased here will be donated to the Maui Strong Fund, which is helping to support the people and places of Maui affected by the recent wildfires.
