Portuguese model Sara Sampaio made her SI Swimsuit debut in 2014, when she traveled to the Jersey Shore for a photoshoot with Ben Watts. She returned to the fold the following year, this time posing for the magazine along Route 66 with Ben Morris.

In addition to her back-to-back years with SI Swimsuit, Sampaio is known for her work as a Victoria’s Secret Angel. The 32-year-old has also been featured on the cover of InStyle Germany, in the pages of Vogue Arabia and has walked the runway during various fashion weeks. And while she’s been in the industry for some time now, Sampaio recently revealed she wasn’t always the fashionista she is today.

“I look back at photos when I was 16 or 18—when I first started modeling—and think, ‘Oh my god,’” she told Harper’s Bazaar UK last month of her fashion evolution throughout the years. “I used to not care at all about fashion. I am very sensitive to textures, so when I was a kid I would only ever want to wear sweats and leggings. So that’s what I would wear. So it’s definitely evolved since then; what I like about fashion now is that you get to be someone different depending what you’re wearing. I love to play and try different things. Sometimes you try different things and they are incredible, and sometimes you try and [you realize] maybe that was a no... But it’s still fun.”

Today, we’re throwing it back to Sampaio’s SI Swimsuit feature in 2014, when she modeled several bright and beautiful bikinis along the Jersey Shore.
