SI Swim Model Lais Ribeiro Nailed Her Neon Looks in the Bahamas

The Brazil native has been featured in the magazine four times.

Brazilian model Lais Ribeiro made a splash with her SI Swimsuit debut in Sumba Island, Indonesia in 2017 in a series of multicolored, floral string bikinis. She returned to the fold the following two years, posing for photographer Ben Watts on the marvelous beaches of the Bahamas in ’18 and traveling to Costa Rica with James Macari in 2019.

The former Victoria’s Secret Angel, who has been featured in campaigns or walked the runway for Marc Jacobs, Vera Wang, Michael Kors and Dolce & Gabbana, modeled for the magazine most recently in 2021. She was captured by Anne Menke for a western-inspired photoshoot in Sacramento, Calif.

“The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue is such a game changer for a model,” Ribeiro reflected. “It has helped shape and support so many careers of women I look up to, so to be included in my third issue, is a dream come true. MJ [Day, editor in chief] and the SI team are like family and real advocates for strong and empowered women—I am honored to be part of that group."

Today, Ribeiro is a mom to her son, Alexandre, and also a stepmom to husband Joakim Noah’s two kids, Leia and Emaan. She and the former basketball player tied the knot last July in a gorgeous beach wedding in Brazil. The 33-year-old donned the most stunning A-line gown by Galia Lahav featuring delicate beaded detailing and floral embroidery.
