Brittany Mahomes Propels CPKC Stadium Project with Dedication to Elevating Women’s Sports
You may know Brittany Mahomes from her fitness content on Brittany Lynne Fitness. Or maybe you’ve seen her with her husband, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes. But starting today, she can officially be known as a 2024 SI Swimsuit rookie. The 28-year-old will be featured in the pages of this year’s issue in photos from her stunning feature in San Pedro Ambergris Caye, Belize.
The magazine call-up may have come as a surprise for Mahomes, but she embraced it enthusiastically. She describes herself as “thankful and honored and so excited” to be part of the brand. We here at SI Swimsuit are similarly excited to welcome her to the family.
Mahomes is the co-owner of the Kansas City Current, the NWSL franchise which this spring is opening CPKC Stadium, the first soccer stadium in the world built specifically for a women’s professional sports team. The facility, located at Berkley Riverfront Park, has a seating capacity of 11,500 and cost $117 million.
The stadium project was announced in October 2021. Mahomes says that when she and the ownership team “committed to bringing a NWSL team back to Kansas City,” they put a stadium dedicated to women’s professional sports at the forefront of their priorities.
Their goal, in addition to giving the Current a premium home near downtown Kansas City, is to “[set] a standard in women’s soccer and women’s sports,” Mahomes explains. In giving the Current players the chance to “have their own facility so that they can perform at their best,” she hopes to inspire the future generation of women soccer players. “I want young girls everywhere to aspire to play at stadiums like CPKC,” she says.
Her goals are admirable, and with the opening of CPKC Stadium planned for the start of the 2024 season next month, it seems they are coming to fruition.
