When she posed for the 50th anniversary SI Swimsuit Issue in 2014, WNBA star Skylar Diggins-Smith traded her typical jersey for several bright and beautiful swimwear looks. She traveled to Guana Island, in the British Virgin Islands, where her Caribbean photoshoot featured several striking blue bikinis that matched the beauty of her surroundings.

The University of Notre Dame graduate was a four-time college All-American and was the No. 3 draft pick in 2013, when she was selected to play for the Tulsa Shock (a team that then relocated and was renamed to the Dallas Wings). In 2020, she was traded to the Phoenix Mercury, where she plays point guard.

Of her modeling experience with SI Swimsuit, Diggins-Smith said she was “pleasantly surprised” to be asked to participate in the feature.

“I didn’t really know how I was going to approach modeling swimsuits, I had never modeled in a swimsuit before, but I think I was really just wanting to get in and kind of get comfortable and I think as the shoot went along, I got more and more comfortable,” she stated at the time.

In addition to her athletic prowess and modeling pursuits, the 33-year-old is a proud mom of two. After playing the entire ’18 season while pregnant, she gave birth to her son in April 2019. She and her husband, Daniel Smith, welcomed their daughter this spring.
