#TBT SI Swimsuit 1973: Libby, Barbro and friends make Walter Iooss' first Swimsuit shoot a breeze

EVERYONE LOVES Throwback Thursday. It gives the world free reign to post any picture taken prior to today without that pesky "context" thing. That time in 2012 when your cat was still a kitten and fell asleep hanging off the couch? Throwback. That day last October when you took your one good selfie? Throwback. Those pics from your 5th-grade graduation that you took wonky iPhone pics of when you went home? Throw that ish back, son!

But we at SwimDaily have an advantage on these, the most hallowed days of the hashtagg'ed week. With 50 years of content more-or-less at our fingertips, we can produce some legit throwbacks, the kind that look vintage without the need for that Valencia filter. The original Lo-Fi. The inaugural #nofilter.

So we're bringing you some images we published in the 1973 SI Sports Illustrated Issue which also happened to be Walter Iooss's first swimsuit shoot. To give you some context (ugh, context): among the non-swimsuit stories that ran alongside the ladies—lest you forget, until 1997 Swimsuit was just one feature in a regular issue of SI—included "GEORGE FOREMAN SURPRISED EVERYBODY BUT HIMSELF BY TAKING THE WORLD TITLE FROM JOE FRAZIER." Do you see what I'm trying to say? That's right, the pictures are old. Enjoy.
