When she posed for the 2010 SI Swimsuit Issue, Ana Ivanovic was at the top of her game, having won the French Open two years prior. The former No. 1-ranked Serbian tennis player represented her country twice at the Olympics—in London in 2012 and in Rio in ’16— and claimed 15 WTA titles before retiring from her sport at the end of 2016.

Of her SI Swimsuit feature, which was photographed by Marlena Bielinska in a New York studio, Ivanovic said she was “honored” to have been chosen to appear in the magazine.

“I feel like a different person out there,” Ivanovic stated during her photoshoot. “You know, the attitude to pose in certain positions and I just tried to feel as comfortable as I can.”

Today, the 35-year-old is a mother of two. She and her husband, Bastian Schweinsteiger, are the parents of two young sons, Luka and Leon. In a recent interview with the Olympics.com Podcast, Ivanovic shared that her experience has an athlete prepared her for motherhood in a way.

“Being a mother has, of course, its beauties, but it also has its challenges,” she admitted. “For four years I didn’t really sleep. There are so many moments when you are just really exhausted and you are talking the edge of survival, and you’re like, how do I do it? How can a little human make three, or two, or four adults super tired? But then you really pull from that, what you had in the past, and how you pulled through tough moments and long matches and exhaustion and so on.”
